When you want to measure the diameter and velocity of droplets, particles or bubbles there are now two choices. Traditionally, Laser Doppler techniques were used to produce pointwise size/velocity measurements, requiring difficult set-up and careful alignment. Oxford Lasers Visisize systems offer another option. Our size with velocity systems allow particle velocity to be measured at the same time as particle size.
This means that in addition to size distributions, our systems can report particle velocity. You can even look at the distribution of particle size against velocity. Data is reported in real-time, with no waiting for the result to be processed. The image-based systems are easy to set-up and easy to use – if you can take a photograph, you already have a good understanding of how the system works.
Count each particle, droplet or bubble
Because Visisize systems count each individual particle, what you see is what you measure. No curves are fitted, no rogue particles are ignored and every piece of data is included in the measurement result. Image analysis offers additional benefits over PDA because the image based data collection is not affected by strong temperature gradients (which can deflect the focussed laser beams used in PDPA)
