Make velocity measurements to micron precision in a single plane in microfluidic devices. Up to 15 image pairs per second using fluorescent particles.
Unlike traditional PIV, micro-PIV relies on illuminating the entire volume of the fluid being investigated. The plane of interest is then chosen with a narrow depth-of-focus microscope. Fluorescent particles are used to eliminate unwanted reflections from the walls of the experiment and to help improve resolution.
As standard, the system comprises: microscope; digital camera; frequency doubled, dual pulse Nd:YAG laser; lighsheet optics; computer and software. If you've already got a suitable microscope, we can integrate it into the system - contact us for more details.
Like our other Particle Image Velocimetry systems, the micro-PIV systems use VidPIV. An intuitive tree-based visual programming language to help you make sense of the full analysis process. Read more about VidPIV to see how it can help you.
