A Series Micromachining System
Oxford Lasers Development and Pilot Production Systems

The A Series offers high accuracy laser micromachining (microdrilling, microcutting and micromilling) in a highly affordable package. They are ideal for the budget concious researcher or production manager.

These turnkey laser micromachining systems are designed as R&D, process development or light production systems. Short pulse duration, high repetition rate lasers are used to ensure accuracy and quality of the machining. The class 1 enclosure keeps the user safe and the vibration isolated platform helps to keep the parts free from defects. An on-axis vision system allows inspection of the process and the parts and features manufactured.

The basic system features an advanced CNC controller with 150mm X-Y travel and 100mm Z-travel to enable large substrates to be processed. This system is ideal for micro-cutting in materials up to 1 mm thick.

The addition of a proprietory trepanning head, converts the basic CNC system into a high speed, very high accuracy micro-hole drilling tool. Hole diameters down to 20 microns can be trepanned. Smaller holes can be percussion drilled.

An optional galvanometer head can be added to allow the A Series to do high speed scribing, cutting and micro-milling. The galvanometer scanner is also ideal for larger hole drilling - but with lower accuracy than the trepanning head option.

Additional rotation axes and larger travel stages are available on request. Other options include: motorised attenuator, vacuum chuck, fume extraction, auto-focus and height/depth sensors.

A choice of wavelengths (1064nm, 532nm, 355nm), repetition rates and powers are available to suit the materials and features that you wish to machine. Please contact our micromachining team for advice on selecting the correct laser.
