Laser Applications Development Engineer - UK

Due to increased demand in laser applications development we require a permanent Laser Applications Development Engineer.

The Position 

You will be developing advanced laser micromachining processes and related hardware. You will be expected to work with state-of-the-art DPSS laser systems using all common UV, visible, IR laser wavelengths and nanosecond to femtosecond pulse durations together with advanced motion control systems. You might need to develop and integrate beam delivery/control/instrumentation and metrology subsystems for next generation laser micro-processing systems.

Ideally, you will have experience of working with Lasers/Optics or other photonics/electro-optics subsystems within a photonics OEM component manufacturer, laser manufacturer or laser system integrator environment. The valuable outcome of your development work will be further validated and progressed to higher technology readiness level by other technical teams within Oxford Lasers such as Engineering/Product Development or Applications.

Required skills
Photonics:  Experience with lasers/optics/laser applications development, especially short pulse laser micromachining.
Education:   BSc degree or higher in Lasers/ Optical Engineering, Physics, Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience. A laser related postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD) would be an advantage.
Communication:    Excellent oral communication, technical writing and presentation skills, project management.
