The Company

Incorporated in June of 1988 Oxford Lasers, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oxford Lasers, Ltd.  Oxford Lasers, Inc takes care of all sales and service for North America, located in Shirley, MA.

Oxford Lasers, Ltd our parent company is a high technology company, with 60 employees, headquartered in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The company designs and manufacturers complete laser based systems, supplies subcontract laser manufacturing services, and carries out after sales services.

The company has four business areas: Imaging Products & Services, Laser Micro-machining Systems, Micro-machining Sub-contract Services, and after Sales.  Imaging systems use a laser or other light sources to produce very short, intense pulses of light to image and analyse very small, fast-moving particles and other events.  Micro-machining systems use a laser beam to make microscopic holes or cuts in a wide range of difficult materials.

The company was founded in 1977 as a spin-out from Oxford University and still retains its unique skills in laser technology and applications.

The company was the subject of a Management Buyout in October 2006 and is now 100% owned by the management. On the back of this change of ownership it is enjoying a new period of strong growth and financial success.

Imaging Division

The Imaging Division of the company operates across a broad range of applications but is primarily focused on particle-sizing, spray pattern and plume geometry analysis.  Customers include, Agro-chemical, pharmaceutical industry automotive, research institutes & universities.

The Imaging Division supplies integrated analytical instruments and contract services to high-tech companies and universities throughout the world.  The instruments combine advanced illumination and camera techniques with Oxford Lasers’ unique analysis and control software.  The software products give the user a simple interface with powerful solutions to complex problems.

 

The Position

The Sales Manager will manage sales activities within North America. Develop new and existing markets, provide up to date sales forecasts, manage existing customers, and achieve sales targets.

Within a short period of training, have the ability to complete a system demonstration.

The individual will be expected to rapidly assimilate the company’s technology so that they become highly proficient.  In doing so they will be comfortable and highly competent in adapting their applications knowledge to new and challenging applications from the market.

The role will involve up to 30% travel, sometimes at short notice.

 

Responsibilities

This is a wide-ranging role managing the sales effort in the Imaging Division in the US office. The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Be responsible for the Imaging sales in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Be responsible for maintaining and growing sales with existing customers.
  • Be the key driver in meeting the sales forecast.
  • Be responsible for effective sales management.
  • Achieve sales targets.
  • Manage sales effectively through effective contact management.
  • Be the key driver in the develop of existing / new market.
  • Provide sales support at conferences and Exhibitions.
  • Be responsible for the generation of accurate pipeline.
  • Provide timely accurate Sales / Forecast number.

 

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline or similar qualification.  Higher degrees advantageous but not essential.
  • Minimum five years, industrial experience in Sale / technical support.
  • Experience in Account management.
  • Experience in closure of sale & negotiation.
  • Be proficient with contact management software.
  • Experience on sprays, spray application or droplet sizing systems is desirable.
  • High level of competency with PC’s and software.
  • Ability to compile quote and complete tenders.

 

The Person

We are looking for a Full-time experienced Sales Manager for the sale and promotion of our full range of Imaging Systems and contract services.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A background of selling capital goods, instrumentation, and measurements system
  • A technical background (Science and/or engineering) with the ability to learn advanced technology quickly and demonstrate.
  • The ability to travel approximately 30 percent of the year and have current passport.
  • Consultative, problem-solving approach to build confidence with the customer and achieve sales.
  • The ability to use a pro-active consultative sales approach to build long standing client relations (in order to achieve quarterly targets).
  • The ability to engage with high tech customers and fit naturally into environment and work effectively.
  • Ability to drive sales through networking, creating referral partnerships, and creative marketing.
  • Ability to prospect new business via referral sources and cold calling.
  • Highly self-motivated with excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and demonstration skills.
  • Comfortable with prospecting both face-to face and by phone.
  • Good organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong closing ability and accurate pipeline management.
  • Clean driving record.
  • A background check and drug testing may be required.
