2020 continued to be a busy time for Oxford Lasers as the new year heralded the arrival of the metalwork for a substantial mezzanine extension.
The extension, which will increase the original mezzanine to create a substantial first floor platform, will make practical use of what was unused open space above the manufacturing floor at the Didcot facility. The additional space created by the mezzanine will be used to create a collaborative workspace, containing new offices and meeting rooms on the first floor of the building. The mezzanine, which is an extension to the original installed during the first facility expansion in 2018, will free up substantial space on the manufacturing floor. The manufacturing areas will be fully remodelled to include new air-conditioned build and test bays for the production department, as well as agile build and pack zones.
Over the last 12 months, the company has been developing their manufacturing processes and working with their suppliers to improve workflow. These improvements have worked collectively and have given Oxford Lasers the ability to double the manufacturing capacity of the site.
