Project LASTEC (Laser Surface Texturing of Compressor’s Mechanical Components: Increasing Energy Efficiency by Improved Tribological Performance).
The project developed a dry, one-step process for friction and wear reduction in refrigeration compressor mechanical components, using flexible and efficient laser surface texturing.

Project UltraWELD will develop photonic based processes for highly dissimilar material joining in manufacturing of complex electro optics devices for defence/aerospace applications and OLED lighting. Developing new ultrafast laser processes for dissimilar material joining (microwelding) and design and build of a flexible custom laser prototype machine to demonstrate such laser microwelding.
